The Energy of Ülker Metro gives life to Basketball courts…
The Metro Energy Test, started in university campuses in order to draw attention to the importance of energy and energy conservation in our lives, ended with the contribution of students to sports education. Ülker Metro, which enabled 90,000 students from nine universities to create energy by pedaling a bicycle as part of the project, was able to build basketball courts for 3 elementary schools in Diyarbakır, Siirt and Van with the contributions of the students. The schools were selected with the assistance of the Turkish Basketball Federation of Schools.
Ülker Metro, which was the first brand to film an advertisement with electricity created by “people power” through the project, took to the field in November to develop energy awareness among students within the scope of the Ülker Metro Energy Test project, which took place from September 2011 - February 2012.
Ülker Metro visited nine universities in Türkiye, including the Karadeniz Technical, Eskişehir Anadolu, Süleyman Demirel, Konya Selçuk, Çukurova, Akdeniz, Ege, Dokuz Eylül and Istanbul Technical Universities, to meet with 90,000 students. Students used the energy generated by the Metro bars they ate to pedal the special racing bicycles that were designed with the cooperation of the İTU Energy Institute in order to create electricity.
With the energy that they created the students contributed to a social responsibility project. Basketball courts were built at 3 elementary schools in Van, Diyarbakır and Siirt with the contributions of these students. Under the guidance of the Turkish Basketball Federation, the TOKİ Elementary School in Diyarbakır, the Sancaklar Elementary School in Siirt and the Hüsrevpaşa Elementary School in Van were provided with basketball courts.
Over ten thousand children including children from area schools will benefit from the basketball courts.
