Autonomous mobile robots project from Ülker
Turkey's leading food company, Ülker, has accelerated its digitalization and technology investments across various operational areas, including human resources, performance management, and sales, recently implemented 20 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) at its Gebze Factory. Autonomous Mobile Robots’s are capable of transporting over 2,600 different types of materials including raw materials and packaging. These robots are set to enhance production efficiency and cost advantage at the facility.
Ülker has taken a significant step in its technological investments by deploying these 20 AMRs at its Gebze Factory, designed to seamlessly integrate with the facility's infrastructure. The robots have begun operations in material and raw material supply within the factory.
Capable of handling a wide range of 2,600 materials throughout the factory, these robots start their tasks based on demands entered into the system by the facility operators. Once a request is approved, the robots proceed to pick up the materials from the warehouse and deliver them to the specified location. Each robot can communicate with six elevators and thirty-two doors, completing up to 150 rounds a day, covering 53 km, and navigating a 2 km route . within the dough making, forming&oven and packaging floor. . These robots can call for elevators toload materials. Upon completing their assigned tasks, the robots either proceed with additional tasks along the designated route or return to the charging station, awaiting new requests..
Mete Buyurgan, CEO of Ülker, emphasized the company's continuous commitment to leveraging digitalization and technology in every aspect of their operations: "Recently, in collaboration with Arçelik and SK Robotics, we introduced 20 custom-developed autonomous mobile robots at our Gebze factory. This initiative marks a significant advancement in terms of efficiency, process simplification, acceleration, cost control, and sustainability. Moving forward, we will continue to integrate similar technologies into our production infrastructure, in line with our goal of achieving operational excellence at Ülker.
The rapid advancement of digital technologies keeps digital transformation high on the business agenda, highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence, automation, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). We closely follow technology trends, including IoT and Industry 4.0, monitor supply chain processes end-to-end, and keep a close eye on consumer behavior and trends. Through the IoT system, we are able to monitor production processes in real-time at our Gebze factory using PLC devices and sensors on production machines, taking necessary actions as needed. We will continue to accelerate our digitalization projects."
