Ülker Bisküvi, Türkiye's leading food company, continued to grow in the first half of 2020. The company's turnover increased by 20.1% to 4.5 billion TL, with exports and overseas operations growing by 23.8%, and Turkish operations growing by 17.9%.

In a statement sent to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Ülker Bisküvi announced that it had increased its turnover by 20.1% in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 4.5 billion TL. The company's Earnings Before Interests, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) increased by 22.5% to 795 million TL, up from 649 million TL in the same period of the previous year.

Reminding everyone that Türkiye and the whole world are going through a difficult period due to the pandemic, but that the company has continued its export, production, sales, and distribution activities, Ülker CEO Mete Buyurgan said that Ülker Bisküvi continued to grow in the first half of the year.

Pointing out that the food industry is an important sector for the country's economy and exports, Buyurgan gave the following information about Ülker Bisküvi's financial results for the first half of the year:

"Our total turnover reached 4.5 billion TL.

Our export and international operations’ share of total turnover was 39.5%, and their share of total EBITDA was 47.4%.

Our consolidated EBITDA margin reached 17.6% in the first half of the year.

As the leader of the Türkiye’s food industry, we continue to invest in our brands, bring new products to our consumers, and continue to keep people working. We have been successful in all categories. Our sales in the biscuit and chocolate categories, in particular, have increased. We export to over 100 countries, continuing to be a strong player in our region. We are maintaining our leadership in the biscuit market in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and our strong growth trend continues in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian countries.

In 2019, we published our 5th Sustainability report, detailing the economic, social, and environmental sustainability performance of our operations in Türkiye. As part of our operational excellence, we saved 16.2 million TL as a result of the nearly 150 improvements we implemented last year. We work with a zero-waste goal, and recycled 91% of our total waste. The energy monitoring system we installed in all our factories gives us instant access to data. We saved 2,502 MWh of energy, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 1,500 households. We reduced our water consumption per production unit by 31.2%, exceeding our 2024 target of 30%. This figure is equivalent to the daily water consumption of a city with a population of 3.2 million. By supporting our waste-free company model with new digital investments, we make significant savings every day."
